The Zittauer Gebirgslauf offers a weekend of sports for runners, hikers, nordic walkers, inline skaters and mountain bikers. Every year, the event attracts around 4,500 or more participants.
The event is held in the Zittauer Gebirge (Zittau Mountains), a very beautiful small mountain range in the tri-border area of Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. Widely known for its fairy-tale rock formations, picturesque villages and dense forests, the Zittauer Gebirge is popular with visitors from near and far all year round.
Runners can choose between the following races:

Starting and finishing at an elevation of about 300 metres in the village of Olbersdorf near the town of Zittau, all routes are very hilly, mostly on trails or gravel roads. The highest point on the 35km course is at an elevation of around 700 metres.
Many visitors travel by narrow gauge train into the Zittau Mountains.
