Ormož (Slovenia), Sunday 23 April 2017
Set in a lovely wine-producing area in the Štajerska region in the eastern part of Slovenia, the Ormoški mali maraton offers a half marathon, a 10k race, a 5k run and children's races.
All races begin and end on the athletics track of Ormož, a small town of about 2,100 inhabitants, situated on the border with Croatia.
The children's races are held on the athletics track, whereas the longer races take the runners out and back on a gently-undulating country road along the Lešnica valley which runs from Ormož northwards through the picturesque Slovenske gorice hills.
More than 200 runners took part in the event last year. The half marathon winners were Blaž Orešnik (1:12:02) and Jasmina Ilijaš (1:25:07).
