Zalaegerszeg - Hévíz - Keszthely (Hungary), Sunday 8 May 2016
Charity Run For Premature Babies and Infants in Need for Intensive Care
The Futás a koraszülöttekért is a new ultra marathon race in western Hungary.
The point-to-point route is 49km long and very hilly. From the start to the finish it features about 760m of ascent—and roughly the same of descent.
If this sounds too strenuous you can grab a friend (or a couple of friends) and run the race as a relay. Teams can consist of up to ten runners.
There will be nine relay points and nine aid stations along the course.
The course is very scenic. Starting on the main square of the town of Zalaegerszeg,
... participants will run through woods, farmland and villages (for instance through the beautiful village of Kállosd) ...
... to the spa of Hévíz, where they will pass the world's second-largest thermal lake:
From there, they will run on a lovely cycleway ...
... to the finish line on the main square of Keszthely, a pretty and lively town which sits at the western end of Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest lake.
The race will be run on mixed terrain (ca. 32km on asphalt roads and 17km on gravel roads and trails).
We have many reasons to recommend this event to our readers. It is staged for a good cause, it is held in a beautiful area, and it is organized by a team of experienced runners, including Edit Bérces who set several ultra marathon world records during her career (-> personal web page).
