Held in Munich, capital of the Free State of Bavaria, the Stadtlauf München is a massive event with more than 15,000 participants.
The event kicks off with the half marathon at 8.00am, followed by the 2k children's run at 8.20am, the 10k race at 10.35am, and the 5k at 12.45pm—when it may be blazing hot in the city.
Starting on Marienplatz (pictured), Munich's main square, the route runs through the city centre, around the baroque Hofgarten, across the magnificent Odeonsplatz and through the vast Englischer Garten, one of Europe's largest public parks.
Instead of a bib, entrants get a technical T-shirt which they must wear during the race.
