Bad Hofgastein (Austria), Sunday 12 June 2016
The Marktlauf is held in the spa resort of Bad Hofgastein, a popular skiing and hiking destination in the 40km-long Gasteinertal in the state of Salzburg in Austria.
The event begins with the children's races, followed by the 3.75km race for women, the 6.25km race for men, and the relay race for teams of three runners (3 x 1.25km).
Women run three laps and men run five laps of a 1.25km-long loop course through the pedestrianized town centre and along the leafy Kurpromenade.
After the race, all runners get free entry (for two hours) to the thermal pools of the Alpentherme Gastein — a great place to relax after the run.
