The Europalauf attracts approximately 450 participants to the small harbour town of Neustadt in Holstein which sits in the Bay of Lübeck on the German Baltic Sea coast.
The following race distances are available: half marathon, 7.5km and 5km. Children run 900m. The event also offers a 7.5km race for walkers and nordic walkers.
Starting and finishing at the Küstengymnasium school near the beach, the 5km and 7.5km races are out and back along the coastal promenade. The route is mainly flat.
The half marathon takes the runners also through farmland and through the beach resorts of Pelzerhaken and Rettin. The route is partly flat and partly undulating.
The races are run on paved and unpaved footpaths, cycleways and roads.
