The TrailDoloMitica trail running festival takes place in the village of Padola which sits at an elevation of over 1,200 metres in the municipality of Comelico superiore in the far north of Italy, near the border with Austria.

The event offers two races through the stunning scenery of the Dolomites:

  • 22km Eco-Trail with 1,100m of ascent (and 1,100m of descent)
  • 42km Eco-Marathon with 2,150m of ascent (and 2,150m of descent)

Participants should have some experience with running in the high mountains. The highest point on the marathon course is at 2,380 metres above sea level!

Therefore, it is highly recommended to take at least a windbreaker jacket, gloves and a hat with you. Eco-Marathon runners must carry half a litre of water with them.

Last year, Ivan Cudin (3:50:44) and Silvia Serafini (4:17:18) led a field of 113 marathon runners through the Dolomites. The Eco-Trail had 108 finishers.

The time limit to finish the marathon is nine hours. It is allowed to use trekking poles.

The event also features races for walkers and nordic walkers (WalkDoloMitica) as well as live music and plenty of fine food.
