This ultra marathon race takes place in the green north-western part of Leipzig, a city of about 550,000 people in the state of Sachsen (Saxony) in eastern Germany.
Three races are on offer — 50km (five laps), 100km (ten laps), and a 100km relay race for teams of up to ten runners (10x10km).
Starting on the athletics track of the August-Bebel-Kampfbahn, which is situated around 6.5km from the city centre, the race takes the runners through the Burgaue forest and around the Auensee.
Approximately 70 per cent of the route is on gravel and 30 per cent on asphalt.
This year, the event will incorporate the German 100km Championships.
