The Hallstättersee Rundlauf features a very scenic half marathon route around the Hallstätter See, a 5.9km-long lake in the Salzkammergut area in Austria.

The race is run on undulating asphalt roads (ca. 13km) and gravel paths (ca. 8km). Overall, the route includes 97m of ascent and 97m of descent.

Starting in the village of Lahn on the western shore, participants run in an anticlockwise direction around the lake which is hemmed in by steep mountains on three sides.

The finish line is on the main square of Hallstatt (pictured), a very picturesque old village, situated approximately one kilometre to the north of Lahn.

Last year, the half marathon had 664 finishers.
