Szczecin (Poland), Saturday 19 September 2015
The first Maraton Szczeciński is to be held on 19 September 2015 in the port of Szczecin, Pomerania's largest city with a population of more than 400,000, situated in the Odra river delta in the far north-west of Poland, near the border with Germany.
The 42.2km marathon will be an undulating single loop course, starting and finishing at the brand-new Azoty Arena, a 5,400-seat indoor arena in the north-western part of the city.
Competitors will run through the city centre and across three arms of the Odra to the south-eastern part of Szczecin, back to the city centre, northwards through the harbour (pictured), and then home to the Azoty Arena.
The route will take the runners through residential, commercial, industrial and green areas, and it will pass many of Szczecin's sights.
The time limit to finish the marathon race will be six hours.
