Fagagna (Italy), Sunday 22 November 2015
Every year, approximately 2,500 (or even more) runners and hikers take part in the Marcia internazionale per le colline di Fagagna, a non-competitive sports event in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in the north-east of Italy.
Four very scenic routes are on offer, about 7km, 12km, 21km, and 30km long.
The start and the finish are in the village of Fagagna, which is situated 15km to the north-west of the city of Udine.
As you can see in our Photo Report 2012, the route runs through gently-rolling countryside, mostly on trails and gravel roads. Some sections are on asphalt roads.
Along the course there are many well-stocked feed stations, some of them offering fine local delicacies.
The entry fees are very low: € 3 on the day of the event.
