Organized by the athletics club LCC Wien, the annual Eisbärlauf ("Polar Bear Run") race series comprises three road running events, to be held on 25 January, on 22 February, and on 22 March 2015.

Each event offers a 7km, a 14km, and a half marathon race. The events in February and March also include a 28km run.

The route is a 7km loop through the Wiener Prater, Vienna's largest public park, and home to many sports venues as well as to the ‘Wurstelprater’ amusement park with its famous Ferris Wheel (pictured).

Starting and finishing near Austria's biggest stadium, the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, the course is AIMS-certified, pancake-flat, and closed to traffic.

The route consists of a 3km loop and a 4km out-and-back run along the Hauptallee ("Main Avenue"), which is lined with chestnut trees.

In 2014, each Eisbärlauf event welcomed around 1000 participants.
