Leipzig (Germany), Sunday 14 September 2014
The Stadtlauf Leipzig offers a 5km and a 10km race through the city centre of Leipzig, a lively city of more than half a million people, situated in the state of Sachsen (Saxony) in eastern Germany.
The 5k is one lap, and the 10k is two laps of a flat course which begins and ends at the magnificent Renaissance-style Altes Rathaus ("Old Town Hall") and which passes many of Leipzig's best sights, for instance the imposing Neues Rathaus ("New Town Hall", pictured above) or the Augustusplatz, one of Germany's largest city squares (pictured below).
Instead of a bib, entrants get a technical T-shirt which they must wear during the race.
Approximately 4000 runners took part in the event last year.
