Corno di Rosazzo (Italy), Saturday 10 May 2014

Marcia dei vini, Corno di Rosazzo (Copyright © 2013 Hendrik Böttger / runinternational.eu)

The Marcia dei vini forms part of the Fiera dei vini, a five-day wine-and-food festival which has been held since 1970 in the village of Corno di Rosazzo in the Friuli region in the north-east of Italy.

Two routes are on offer — 6km and 12km long.

As the marcia is a non-competitive fun run there won't be any timekeeping, and no results lists. Prizes will be awarded to the largest groups, not to the fastest finishers.

Participants can start at any time between 4pm and 5pm, and they can still decide on the course which distance they want to run (or walk).

Both routes are very hilly and scenic loops on mixed terrain (asphalt, gravel and trails), mostly through vineyards and woods and rural areas.

The entry fees (€ 3 on the day) include a free pasta meal after the run, and there will be ample opportunity to sample fine local wines at the Fiera dei vini.
