Traditionally held on the first Saturday in July, the Tek po Lončariji ("Run through Lončarija") features children's races, a 2 km run and a 9.4km race.

All races begin and end in the village of Dolenja vas, which is situated in a lovely green valley near the old town of Ribnica in southern Slovenia.

The 9.4km race consists of two different loops through pretty countryside and small villages to the north and to the south of Dolenja vas. The route is relatively flat and mostly on asphalt roads. About 2km of the course are on gravel roads or trails.

The area around Dolenja vas is called "Lončarija" (which may be loosely translated as "Land of Pottery") because lončarstvo (pottery) has been an important craft in the valley for several centuries. Wood carving has been widely practised as well.
