Lončarija teče is a running event held annually near the old town of Ribnica in the Dolenjska region in Slovenia (see map below).
The event takes place in the village of Dolenja vas which is situated in a lovely green valley where lončarstvo (pottery) has been an important craft for several centuries.
All ages and abilities are welcome to take part in the event. Five race distances are available:
- 200m-300m-600m-2km Šolski tek (kids' run)
- 2km Rekreativni tek
- 10km Lončar
- 24km Potičnica trail
The 10k race consists of two different loops through pretty countryside and small villages. The route is relatively flat and mostly on asphalt roads.
The 24k trail race follows a very challenging loop course through the densely-wooded hills south-west of Dolenja vas. The route features 880 metres of ascent.
