The Půlmaraton Moravským krasem features an undulating half marathon route through the Moravský kras (Moravian Karst), a protected landscape area with more than 1000 limestone caves in the Czech Republic.

Starting and finishing on the main square of Blansko — an industrial town of about 21,000 people, situated 30km north of the city of Brno — the route consists of two loops through the town centre, followed by an out-and-back run along a steep river valley (pictured below).

The turning point is at the Punkevní jeskyně (Punkva Caves), the most popular tourist attraction in the area.

More than 900 runners completed the race last year. The fastest finishers were Jan Kohut (1:08:17) and Michaela Mertová (1:25:53).

In addtition to the half marathon, the event offers a 2.4km run (two laps through the town centre: 1600m+800m) an 800m fun run, and children's races.

There will also be plenty of food and drinks available on Blansko's main square, as well as live music, show acts and entertainment for the whole family.
