67th Devin - Bratislava National Running Race 2014
Held for the 67th time this year, this 11.6km road running race in Slovakia attracts a crowd of more than 5000 runners.
Starting at Devín Castle (pictured), the route runs along the River Danube to the city centre of Slovakia's capital Bratislava.
Participants can use the free bus service from Bratislava to get to the start area at the impressive ruins of Devín Castle, which played a prominent role in the history of Slovakia, and which is regarded by many as a symbol of Slovak nationhood.
The castle sits on a steep rock at the confluence of two rivers that form the border with Austria — the Morava and the Danube.
The event also offers a 2.6km run for young athletes and recreational runners.
