4th Cluj International Marathon 2014
Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Sunday 13 April 2014
The Maratonul International Cluj has quickly become one of the major running events in Transylvania, a historical region in north-western Romania.
Held in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania's second-largest city with a population of about 325,000 people, the event offers a 2km children's race, a 6km run, a half marathon, a full marathon, and a marathon relay for teams of four runners.
All races begin and end on the athletics track of the Cluj Arena, a brand-new 30,000-seat stadium, situated on the Someșul Mic River near the city centre.
The half marathon consists of two laps. Participants in the marathon run four laps. The course is gently undulating and mostly out and back in different directions.
The route takes runners around the wooded Central Park, through the historic quarter (pictured), through residential areas, along the river, and across two bridges.
