Held on a flat, certified, and very attractive course along the Bay of Lübeck on Germany's Baltic coast, the Ostseelauf draws approximately 1000 runners.

Entrants can choose between the 5k run, the 10k race, or the half marathon, which consists of two laps. Children run one nautical mile (1852 metres).

The start and the finish are at the ‘Seebrücke’ pier of Timmendorfer Strand, one of Germany's most popular beach resorts (pictured).

All races are run out and back the beach promenade (partly on gravel and partly on asphalt) between the fishing village of Niendorf and the resort of Scharbeutz.
