Sunday 22 March 2020 - Postponed due to coronavirus outbreak! New date: 8 November 2020
The Ostseelauf (‘Baltic Sea Run’) is a running event held every year in spring in the beach resort of Timmendorfer Strand, one of Germany's best-known seaside holiday destinations, situated on the coast of the Ostsee (Baltic Sea), approximately eighty kilometres from the city centre of Hamburg.
Every year, the event attracts about 1,500 participants.
These races are available:
- 1.852km (one nautical mile) for children
- 5km nordic walking
- 21.1km half marathon
Starting at Timmendorf's Seebrücke pier (pictured above), all races are flat, accurately-measured and scenic out-and-back runs along the coastal promenade between the resorts of Niendorf and Scharbeutz.
The half marathon is two laps (10km+11.1km). The route is partly paved and partly unpaved.
