Almost 4,000 runners completed last year's marathon in Wrocław (also known by its German name 'Breslau'), a lively city of over 600,000 people in western Poland.

The race limit for the 31st edition has been set at 6000 runners.

Starting and finishing at the Olympic Stadium, approximately four kilometres east of the city centre, the route is a single loop through various parts of the city.

After approximately 36 kilometres participants run through the Old Town with it's many churches and historic buildings, as well as across the cobbled Rynek, Wrocław's beautiful main square.

Apart from a couple of bridges, the course is mostly flat and fast.

In 2012, the top finishers were Edwin Kirui of Kenya (2:15:32) and Marta Szenk of Poland (2:49:03). The time limit to finish the race is six hours.
