The Maisel's Fun Run forms part of the four-day Maisel's Weissbierfest which is held annually in the town of Bayreuth in Germany's state of Bavaria.

Last year, more than 2000 took part in either the quarter marathon (10.55km), the half marathon, or the children's races.

The quarter marathon is one lap, and the half marathon is two laps of an undulating and attractive course. Most of the route is on asphalt. Some sections are on gravel.

The start/finish area is at the Brauerei Maisel brewery, one of Germany's largest producers of wheat beer (‘Weissbier’).

Competitors run through Bayreuth's magnificent historic centre, through the baroque Hofgarten park, through the university campus, and past a lovely small lake.

The route also passes ‘Villa Wahnfried’ where Richard Wagner worked on famous operas like Parsifal and Götterdämmerung.
