Like the Maraton Warszawski (which takes place at the end of September), the Półmaraton Warszawski is organized by the Warsaw Marathon Foundation.

Both races start and finish at Poland's new National Stadium. The first 13 kilometres and the last 5 kilometres of the course are also very similar.

Competitors run along the "Royal Route" (pictured) which passes many of Warsaw's historic sights, along the River Vistula, and around the magnificent Łazienki Park.

In 2012, over 7000 runners took part in the Warsaw Half Marathon. The winners were Arkadiusz Gardzielewski of Poland (1:03:29) and Volha Mazuronak of Belarus (1:14:22). The entry limit is 9000 runners, and the race may well fill up early.
