"LCC Polar Bear Run 2011" - 3rd Run

The third and final event of the popular Eisbärlauf winter road running series, held in the Prater park in Austria's capital city Vienna, takes place at the end of March 2011.

Once again, runners have the choice between the 7k run and the half marathon. The course is a 7km-loop, which is very flat and fast, AIMS-certified and closed to traffic.

Starting and finishing near Austria's largest football stadium (Ernst-Happel-Stadion) the route runs mostly out-and-back the Prater Hauptallee, the main avenue through the park.

Last year's 21K winners were Wolfgang Wallner (1:12:59) and Eva-Maria Gradwohl (1:15:34). Ms Gradwohl, who was running for the organizing club LCC Wien, won all three Eisbärlauf races of the season. This year, she won't be able to defend her title after being banned from competition for refusing to take a doping test in spring 2010.

Remember that the night before the event the clocks jump one hour forward due to the start of 'European Summer Time', so don't be late!
