The Mali maraton Mozirja in Slovenia offers three races (21.2km, 11km and 6.3km).

Starting and finishing in the small town of Mozirje, the course follows mildly undulating trails, dirt roads and country lanes in the very pretty Upper Savinja River Valley.

Participants run through Mozirje's town centre, along the Savinja River, through fields and villages, and past the castle and Franciscan monastery of Nazarje (pictured).

The 21.2km run (which is slightly longer than a half marathon) consists of two laps.

Last year's first edition of the Mali maraton Mozirja had 300 finishers. The half marathon winners were Andrej Cvikl (1:22:42) and Jadranka Leskovšek (1:36:32).
