The Maraton Savinja (previously known as ‘Mali maraton Mozirja’) is a running event held in the lovely Upper Savinja River Valley in Slovenia.

Three scenic races are available (6km, 10.5km, 21km), starting and finishing at the Mozirski gaj flower park in the town of Mozirje.

The 21km race is two laps of the 10.5km course which takes the runners on mixed terrain (asphalt and gravel) through villages and farmland and along both banks of the Savinja.

The route also passes the imposing Franciscan monastery and church of Nazarje (pictured).

Update 2022:

The route has been changed. The new course is 7km long. Participants can choose to run one, two or three laps of this course (7km, 14km, 21km).
