This tough trail marathon takes place on the densely-wooded Medvednica mountain range, which rises to the north of Croatia's capital city Zagreb.

The start and finish are at the radio transmission tower that stands on the top of Sljeme (1033m), the highest peak of the range, accessible by bus or car.

The 42.2km marathon consists of three laps. Each lap includes 350 metres of descent and 350 metres of ascent, partly on rough and narrow trails! It's also possible to run the marathon as a relay (3x14km, mixed teams only) or to run just one lap (14km).

Last year, the event had around 220 participants.

Ultra marathon runner Veronika Jurišić won the marathon in a time of 3:43:07. Stjepan Čošić was the first man across the line in 3:45:58.
