10th Half Marathon "Winged Victory" 2011
Vittorio Veneto (Italy), Sunday 13 February 2011
The start is on Viale della Vittoria, the main boulevard in Vittorio Veneto.
This early-season half marathon highlight takes place in Vittorio Veneto, a town of about 30,000 people, located around 70 kilometres to the north of Venice.
Many runners know the town as the starting point of the Treviso Marathon.
The title of the race, Maratonina "Vittoria Alata" (Half Marathon "Winged Victory"), refers to the Greek goddess Nike, the "Winged Goddess of Victory". It reminds that Vittorio Veneto was the site of the last and decisive battle against the Austro-Hungarian forces in World War One.
In 2011, the race will feature a new course, which is mostly out and back on undulating roads and cycleways.
Last year, Zsolt Koszár of Hungary celebrated victory in 1:05:23. Laura Giordano of Italy crossed the finish line on Viale della Vittoria in 1:16:42.
