4th "Lighthouse Run" 2011
Podersdorf am See (Austria), Easter Monday 25 April 2011
The Leuchtturmlauf brings runners to one of Austria's very few lighthouses.
The event takes place on Easter Monday in the small town of Podersdorf am See, situated on the eastern shore of the Neusiedler See, Austria's largest lake.
Podersdorf is the most popular tourist destination in the region. It's the only resort that gives direct, reed-free access to Lake Neusiedl. A quarter of the lake's surface is on Hungarian territory.
Participants run either 10K (three laps), 6.6K (two laps) or 3.3K (one lap). Children run 1K.
The route runs along the lakeside promenade and through parkland close to the shore. Each loop includes an out-and-back run to the lighthouse, which sits at the end of a 200-metre-long pier.
In 2010, the event had 216 finishers overall. The 10K winners were Wolfgang Wallner (34:02) and Sonja Wimmer (42:45).
