With thousands of participants of all ages and abilities, Su e Zo per i Ponti is an important event in the Venetian calendar. It is not a serious running race but a non-competitive fun event.

Participants run or walk 13km through various parts of Venice. The route crosses 55 bridges. The start and finish are on Piazza San Marco in the very heart of the city.

Entry fees are 6 euros, and all proceeds go to charity. Along the route there are three feed stations. Finishing times are not measured but all finishers get a medal, and prizes are given to the largest groups.

The festivities begin on Saturday night with various performances on Piazza San Marco. At 8am on Sunday, there will be a holy mass in the Basilica di San Marco, followed by the flag-raising ceremony at 9.30am. Start is at 10am. The event closes with a folk groups parade.
