Parktherme Desert Run

It can get pretty hot in the Wüstenlauf. There's hardly any shade on the course and you can expect the sun to be blazing hot at the start of the event at 4.30pm.

You have a choice of races of 8.7km, 13.6km and 21.1km. In all races you will run at first a lap through the small provincial spa town of Bad Radkerburg, right on the River Mur and the Slovene border, and then on flat cyclepaths and roads along sunbaked fields. A few hundred metres will be on a dirt road.

You'll get free entry to the spa to cool off after the race - in the hot pools. Finally, there will be a party with belly dancers, exotic snakes, camel riding and some live music.

In 2008, the half marathon winners were Manfred Heit (1:09:44) and Maria Zechmeister (1:24:27).
