Lake Bled, Slovenia's most popular alpine resort, is home to a new event.

The race follows the footpaths around the picture-postcard lake with its medieval castle on a clifftop and a little church island.

Entrants choose between the half marathon (three and a half laps around the lake) and the 6k race (one lap).

The route is mildly undulating, mostly on asphalt, and traffic-free. Some sections are quite narrow, and the course is not really suitable to set a PB.

Half marathon runners start at the Zaka Rowing Centre, where the World Rowing Championships will be held in 2011. The finish is about 2 kilometres from there on the promenade at the lake's eastern end. The 6k runners start and finish on the promenade.
