Set in the Julian Alps in Slovenia, the Bovec Maraton offers three multi-terrain races through the strinkingly-beautiful Soča Valley:

• 8km fun run
• 22km polmaraton (half marathon)
• 42km maraton (marathon)

All three routes are single-loop courses which start and finish on the main square of the small town of Bovec, a popular destination for skiers in the winter and for kayakers and hikers in the summer.

Situated at an elevation of about 460 metres in the Bovec Basin, the town is surrounded by steep, densely-wooded mountains on all sides.

The race routes are highly scenic and varied but they have not been designed to set any personal records. The fun run features about 80 metres of ascent, the half marathon 220 metres and the full marathon 700 metres.

Approximately one third of the marathon course is on gravel roads or trails.
