Held since 1965, the Silvestrovský beh medzi mostami ("New Year's Eve Run between the Bridges") is a running event with a long tradition.
It takes place annually on 30 December in Piešťany, the largest spa town in Slovakia, located approximately 85 kilometres from Bratislava.
The event features a very fine setting and a scenic course, and it offers races for all ages:
- children's races
- 4km
- 10km
- 10km relay (5x2km for teams of up to five runners)
Starting on kúpeľný ostrov (spa island), an island in the Váh river, the 4k race is two laps and the 10k is five laps of a mostly-flat loop course that runs along the river and across two bridges:
