The Marcia Città del Mosaico is a non-competitive fun running and walking event without timekeeping or results lists — a fine amateur sports event for the whole family.
Held annually in Spilimbergo, a picturesque small town situated in the Province of Pordenone, which is in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in the north-eastern corner of Italy, the event attracts well over 1,000 participants of all ages.
Participants can choose between several routes, usually about 6km, 12km and 21km long. This may vary a bit from year to year, and there may be more routes available.
The 6km route takes the participants through Spilimbergo, which is well known for keeping the art of making mosaics alive at the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli (Mosaic School).
The longer routes run through the very pretty historic town centre and then, mainly on gravel roads and trails, through a mix of agricultural areas, woods and grassland, offering many wonderful panoramic views of the nearby Prealps.
