The Szavanna Trail is a trail running event held in the Velencei-hegység (Velence Hills), a small hill range that rises above the northern shore of Velencei-tó (Lake Velence) in Hungary.

This year, the event offers four trail races:

  • 6km (5.7km; 109m of ascent)
  • 10km (10.4km; 208m of ascent)
  • 23km (22.8km; 588m of ascent)
  • 46km (two laps of the 23km course; 1,198m of ascent)

Starting and ending in the village of Pákozd, 50 kilometres south-west of Budapest, the route runs across savanna-style grassland with scattered trees and shrubs and through beautiful woods, passing several rather unusual rock formations.

The 6km and the 10km routes take the runners up and down the hill above Pákozd, Sár-hegy.

The 23km and 46km races also visit the upper slopes of Meleg-hegy (352m), the highest of the Velence Hills:
