The Herzogstadtlauf takes place in Straubing, an old town of about 50,000 people, situated on the right bank of the Donau (Danube) on the fertile Gäuboden plain in Niederbayern (Lower Bavaria) in Germany.

The event begins on Saturday afternoon with the children's races and the 2k Inklusionslauf for runners of all abilities.

Held on Sunday morning, the 5k race is one lap, the 10k race is also one lap, and the half marathon is two laps (10km+11.1km).

All three races take the runners through different parts of Straubing, including the beautiful historic core.

The start and the finish line are on the vast Am Hagen car park which hosts every August the Gäubodenvolksfest, an eleven-day fair that draws more than one million beer drinkers and fun seekers.
