The Ostseeküstenlauf (‘Baltic Sea Coast Run’) is held in Rerik, a small beach town situated about 35 kilometres west of the city of Rostock in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany.
With its scenic setting and a choice of five races, it's an event for the whole family:
- 1.5km for kids and families
- 5km
- 10km
- 10km walking and nordic walking
- 21.1km Halbmarathon (half marathon)
The start and the finish are on Rerik's Sportplatz (football pitch).
All races are run on a mix of trails and roads along the coast.
Participants in the half marathon also run through villages and rolling agricultural land away from the coast, passing the Leuchtturm (lighthouse) in Bastorf (pictured above).
