The Wilhelmsburger Insellauf ("Wilhelmsburg Island Run") takes runners on a tour of the very green eastern part of Wilhelmsburg, a quarter of the city of Hamburg, situated on an island in the Elbe river.
Four race distances are on offer:
- 1km kids' run
- 5km
- 10km
- 21.1km half marathon
The 5k route runs mainly through residential areas, passing many picturesque old houses and a 19th-century windmill.
Participants in the 10k race and in the half marathon also run through very pretty rural areas and along the dikes of the Elbe.
