The Wilhelmsburger Insellauf ("Wilhelmsburg Island Run") takes runners on a tour of the very green eastern part of Wilhelmsburg, a quarter of the city of Hamburg, situated on an island in the Elbe river.

Four race distances are on offer:

  • 1km kids' run
  • 5km
  • 10km
  • 21.1km half marathon

The 5k runs mainly through residential areas, passing many picturesque old houses and a 19th-century windmill.

Participants in the 10k race and in the half marathon also run through very pretty rural areas and along the dikes of the Elbe.

The half marathon course has been accurately measured and certified.
