The Wilhelmsburger Insellauf ("Wilhelmsburg Island Run") takes runners on a tour of the very green eastern part of Wilhelmsburg, a quarter of the city of Hamburg, situated on an island in the Elbe river.

Four race distances are on offer: a 1k kids' run, a 5k, a 10k and a half marathon.

The 5k route runs, mainly out and back, through residential areas to a 19th-century windmill.

Participants in the 10k race and in the half marathon also run through very pretty rural areas and along the dikes of the Elbe.

The half marathon course has been accurately measured and certified.
