The Spreewald Marathon is a family-friendly amateur sport event for runners, walkers, hikers, cyclists, inline skaters, handbikers and longboarders.

It is held annually over a weekend in the spring in the Spreewald, a vast wetland area criss-crossed by numerous brooks and canals.

Located in the state of Brandenburg in Germany, approximately 100 kilometres from Berlin, the ‘Spree Forest’ has been protected as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1991.

There is a variety of races for runners to choose from:

  • Friday 22 April 2022, start/finish in Lübbenau:
    • 20.30: 5km night run
  • Saturday 23 April 2022, start/finish in Lübbenau:
    • 9.00: 5km family run
    • 10.30: 21.5km
  • Sunday 24 April 2022, start/finish in Burg (Spreewald):
    • 10:30: 42.2km marathon
    • 11.30: 21.1km half marathon
    • 12.30 10km
    • 15.00: 400m kids' run
    • 15.10: 2km

The 42.2km marathon features a very flat and scenic single-lap course that begins and ends in the village of Burg (Spreewald).
