The Aabenraa Bjergmarathon (‘Aabenraa Mountain Marathon’) is held annually in Aabenraa, a town of about 16,000 people in the Syddanmark (Southern Denmark) region, situated approximately twenty-three kilometres from the border with Germany.

The event offers races for the whole family:

  • 470m/1,500m børneløb (kids' run)
  • 5.6km løb og walk (run and walk)
  • 10km
  • 21.1km halvmarathon (half marathon)
  • 21.1km halvmarathon stafet (relay for teams of two runners)
  • 42.2km marathon

Marathoners run two laps of the half marathon course which consists of two different loops.

Starting on Storetorv square, the route takes in the narrow streets of the picturesque old town, the harbour, residential areas and the rolling wooded hills to the east and to the west of Aabenraa.

The race is run on mixed terrain (asphalt, cobbles, gravel, trails).

The 5.6km run and walk features about 70 metres of ascent, the 10k race 130 metres, the half marathon 285 metres, and the full marathon 570 metres.
