Held annually since 1958, the Slovácký běh is a running event with a long tradition.
It takes place in the old town of Uherské Hradiště which sits in the heart of the Slovácko (Moravian Slovakia) region in the Czech Republic.
Located near the border with Slovakia, the region is well-known for its folk music, dances, costumes and festivals, as well as for its wine and fruit brandies.
The event offers:
- races for young athletes (300m - 3km)
- a non-competitive 2k fun run (lidový běh)
- a 5k race for women and for male vets (40 years and over)
- a 10k race for men
Starting on Masarykovo náměstí (Masaryk Square), the spacious main square, the 5k is four laps and the 10k is eight laps of a flat course through the town centre.
The route passes many elegant buildings, including one of the most graceful railway stations in the country (pictured).
