Held yearly in May, the Maraton Praha (Prague Marathon) is the Czech Republic's best-known running event.

It offers a 42.2km marathon and a 21.1km+21.1km relay race for teams of two runners (‘2Run’).

Starting and ending on Staroměstské náměstí (Old Town Square) in the heart of Prague's historic core, the route takes the runners through the city centre and along both banks of the Vltava river.

The time limit to complete the course is seven hours.

Usually, the event also features a walk with dogs and a non-competitive family run, both held on Saturday afternoon, on the day before the marathon, in Stromovka park in the northern part of the city.
