The Lipenský půlmaraton ("Lipno Half Marathon") is part of the Trail Running Cup race series which is held every year at various different locations across the Czech Republic.

The event features two very hilly and scenic multi-terrain races: 8km and 21km.

Both routes begin and end at an elevation of 726 metres in the holiday resort of Lipno nad Vltavou (pictured above), right on the shore of Czechia's largest lake, the 42km-long Lipno Reservoir.

Participants in the half marathon run on mixed terrain (gravel and asphalt roads, forest trails, ski slopes) up and down two hills, through the village of Loučovice, along the Vltava river and to the top of the Stezka korunami stromů (Treetop Walkway), a wooden canopy walkway and observation tower on the summit of Kramolín (899m).

Opened in 2012, the Treetop Walkway has quickly become one of the main tourist attractions in the South Bohemian Region. The tower offers wonderful panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding Šumava mountains.
