New Year, Thursday 1 January 2026
The Novogodišnja utrka (‘New Year's Run’) in Varaždin, a town of about 43,000 people in the far north of Croatia, is a 5k road race starting at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Day when champagne corks pop and fireworks go off.
The route begins and ends on Franjevački trg in the heart of Varaždin's beautiful Old Town. The course is flat and AIMS-certified.
