25-26 February 2023
The Split Maraton is the biggest of the road running events held annually on the Dalmatian coast in the southern part of Croatia.
Set in Split, the second-largest city in the country with a population of about 160,000, the event offers:
- kids races
- 5k run
- half marathon
- marathon
- marathon relay for teams of four runners (3x10km + 12.2km)
Both the half and the full marathon are AIMS/IAAF-certified and very scenic and varied (but not very flat) one-loop courses highlighting the many facets of this vibrant city.
Starting on the lively Riva promenade in the city centre, both routes feature, for instance, an out-and-back run along ulica Domovinskog rata (a six-lane arterial road), one lap on the athletics track of Stadion Poljud (the home stadium of the Hajduk Split football club), and a beautiful run around the densely-wooded Marjan hill (pictured above).
