The Splitski polumaraton is a road running event in Croatia's second city, Split, a vibrant city of some 180,000 inhabitants located on the Dalmatian coast.

Held yearly in February, the event offers children's races, a 5k run, a half marathon and a relay race for teams of three runners.

The 5k is two laps along the waterfront whereas the half marathon is an undulating one-loop course through different parts of the city, showing the runners the many facets of Split.

Starting on the lively Riva promenade in the city centre, the race features, for instance, an out-and-back run along ulica Domovinskog rata (a six-lane arterial road), one lap on the athletics track of the Stadion Poljud (the home stadium of the Hajduk Split football club), and a beautiful run around the densely-wooded Marjan hill (pictured above).
