Held at the Klopeiner See, a popular alpine summer bathing destination in the province of Kärnten (Carinthia) in the southern part of Austria, the Klopeiner See Volkslauf attracts several hundred runners from near and far.
Entrants can choose between the 5.2km run and walk (one lap around the lake) or the 10.4km run (two laps).
Children compete over three distances (200m, 500m, 1km), depending on the age group.
The event takes place annually on 15 August, the feast of the Assumption of Mary, a public holiday in Austria and many other countries.
