Held at the Klopeiner See, a popular alpine summer bathing destination in the province of Kärnten (Carinthia) in the southern part of Austria, the Klopeiner See Volkslauf attracts several hundred runners from near and far.

Four race distances are available:

  • 500m kids run
  • 1km kids run
  • 5.2km run or nordic walking (one lap around the lake)
  • 10.4km run (two laps around the lake)

The event takes place annually on or around 15 August, the feast of the Assumption of Mary, a public holiday in Austria and many other countries.
