The Traunsee Halbmarathon is a road running event held at the Traunsee, a twelve-kilometre-long lake in Oberösterreich (Upper Austria).
It features a half marathon race for individual runners, for relay teams of three (10km+7.5km+3.6km) and for wheelchair athletes.
There need to be at least fifteen entrants, however, for the wheelchair race to kick off, and disabled athletes have to pay the same entry fees as runners (between €44 for early birds and €69 for late entries for the 2019 event).
Starting in the town of Ebensee at the southern tip of the lake, the first five kilometres or so are run through the valley south of the lake.
Then, the route heads north along the lake's western shore to the old summer resort of Gmunden which is at the northern end of the Traunsee.
The course is relatively flat and fast. The difference between the lowest and the highest point on the course is 31 metres.
Railway transport from Gmunden to the start in Ebensee (ferry transport for relay runners) is included in the entry fees.
