Held each August in the Baroque gardens of the Augarten, a public park in Austria's capital Wien (Vienna), the Augartenlauf attracts approximately 400 runners and nordic walkers.
The event offers the following races:
- 1k kids' run
- 5k run
- 5k nordic walking
- 10k run
Starting and finishing at the Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten, Austria's number one porcelain manufactory, the 10k race is four laps of a flat course on asphalt and gravel paths through the park.
The route passes two of Vienna's six Flaktürme (flak towers)—massive anti-aircraft defence towers and air-raid shelters, built during World War Two:
